Drew Edwards, LPC

M.A. in Counseling

Licensed Professional Counselor

Independent Counselor, Roanoke Valley Counseling Center, LLC

Life is hard and we are not made to travel through it alone. A counselor can be one of the companions for a portion of your journey to offer support, feedback, and encouragement to either stay the path, or find a new one. I enjoy hearing the life stories of others and being able to process concerns from the past or present that are impacting your daily life or your journey to the future. I see my role as a helper and guide, with some skills and training to help, but not an authority on your life experience. I will not be looking down and pulling you up, but walking alongside and working together.

I enjoy working with folks from a variety of backgrounds. I have personal interest and investment in refugee/immigrant populations, racial justice, and religious issues. I value the person as they identify themselves and am LGTBQ+ affirming. I look at the whole person and take each of the identifiers and traits that make them unique and see an individual as a combination of parts, not focusing on any one area to the detriment of others. I have experience working with relationship issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use.

The office is handicap accessible, calm and quiet, and welcoming to all. I approach therapy based on the strengths and goals of each client, look for success to build upon, and listen attentively for whatever someone wants to share.  I seek to make therapy approachable and accepting whether it's your first time or you have experienced it before. I want to make sure you feel safe and valued during your therapy sessions.
