Erica Cockrell (pronouns: She/Her) has over 8 years of experience as a community-based counselor, working with adolescents and adults. Erica is passionate about working with people to help them reach their full potential and meet their individualized goals and needs. Erica works with a range of diagnoses and presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, LGBTQ issues, self-harming behaviors, emotion dysregulation, self-esteem issues, family discord and life transitions.

Erica utilizes evidence-based modalities in treatment, including motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches such as dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive therapy, and trauma-informed CBT. Erica also uses a warm, person-centered approach and believes that feeling safe and connected in the therapeutic setting is of the  utmost importance. Erica uses creativity in sessions such as art, games, and humor to create a relaxed environment that is welcoming for all clients, regardless of age or presenting concerns.

Erica believes in using a strength-based approach to help clients and families tap into their inner resources and strengths during the therapeutic process. Erica maintains a collaborative approach with clients in setting their own goals and meeting them where they are in their journey. Erica enjoys exploring the beautiful outdoors of Roanoke Valley, playing with her dog, spending time with family, and cooking in her spare time.
